GENKO Proposals to develop on Whitchurch Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB
GENKO, a Guernsey registered land speculation company, has submitted proposals to Basingstoke & Deane Council as part of the Local Plan Update, to effectively double the size of Whitchurch.
On farmland north of the railway line in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a nationally protected landscape
GENKO propose at least 600+ houses and nearly a third of a million sq.ft of commercial / industrial development on part of the land up towards The Harroway. This will inevitably lead to at least a further 800+ houses thereafter.
Here is the plan of the first phase.
On land at Bere Hill
GENKO propose 500 houses and a road pushed through the valley from Bere Hill as illustrated in the plan above.
The development would spill over the Bere Hill ridge line into the valley of the Winterbourne below, and be visible from London Road.
On land at The Gables, London Road
GENKO propose about 80 further houses at The Gables.
This development would sit adjacent to The Mill Trail and was rejected by the Neighbourhood Plan.
