Invasive Himalayan Balsam Corporate Volunteering Days
Tackling invasive species including Himalayan balsam and Monkey Flower across Whitchurch’s River Test watermeadows is an important part of our hands-on activity during late spring and summer each year.
Pulling up this celery-stalk like invasive plant is not only good for the environment, but is also hugely satisfying as well as being a fantastic change of scene away from the office.
We welcome CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) volunteers to help us undertake this environmental clean-up from the watermeadows surrounding the River Test including The Weir watermeadow, Millennium Meadow and adjacent Orchid Meadow. We collaborate closely with trustees of the Whitchurch Millennium Green Trust so that the impact of our work is maximised.
Our corporate volunteering days are often led by experts including David Oakley, Conservation Officer at the Wild Trout Trust, whose careful instruction and guidance provide a useful knowledge-based backdrop to the hands-on practical work. We also work closely with Courtney Brain, the Test and Itchen INNS Project Coordinator at Wessex Rivers Trust.
We warmly invite corporate volunteers from the wider Hampshire and Berkshire area including Newbury, Winchester, Basingstoke and Reading to join us.
What we can offer: Structured Himalayan Balsam pulling volunteering days with Whitchurch Conservation Group, including a complimentary picnic lunch, are available during the June to September period. Groups of 10-20 individuals can be accommodated.
We can provide a risk assessment and PLI.
Please do get in touch if you are looking for a corporate volunteering day in June > September 2027.
We have previously welcomed corporate volunteers from companies including:
