Whitchurch in Bloom Grantwriting Support 2020 – 2024

Whitchurch In Bloom is a constituted community group in Whitchurch, North Hampshire. 

We seek to make Whitchurch a more attractive place for residents and visitors, encourage a community spirit, bringing together individuals and groups across Whitchurch, encourage residents and traders to take a pride in their environment, and to create and develop newly planted areas and enhance existing natural and planted areas in and around Whitchurch.

Grant wins

We are thrilled to have contributed to the incredible success of Whitchurch in Bloom and to witness their meteoric rise to recognition.

Between 2020 and 2024, we provided vital grant-writing support to their hardworking team, securing funding from the SWR Customer and Communities Improvement Fund (CCIF), BDBC Councillor funding, and most recently, the Shared Prosperity Fund’s Pride in Place grant in 2024. The latter marked their largest funding achievement to date, enabling the acquisition of a polytunnel that will significantly enhance their future growth and sustainability.

Additionally, we helped prepare their portfolio for the annual judging day, showcasing the remarkable impact of their work, and set up the crowdfunding campaigns. We also undertook the planning application process for the polytunnel.

We believe Whitchurch in Bloom is a truly inspiring team that contributes so much to our community, and we are proud to have played a meaningful role in their ongoing success!

Whitchurch in Bloom Awards

Whitchurch in Bloom were awarded Gold in the ‘Small Towns’ category of the nationwide RHS In Bloom 2024 competition. This was the second year of being awarded Gold.

The team received an additional accolade as they were also awarded the nationwide ‘Small Town of the Year 2024’ award, beating other towns from all over the country.

It is a culmination of a huge amount of work by the team of volunteers led by Whitchurch residents Caroline Wells and Kathy Hardy.

Having won bronze in 2021, silver gilt in 2022, and gold in 2023, the team forged forward and made huge progress in 2024.
