Whitchurch Neighbourhood Plan

The Referendum on the Whitchurch Neighbourhood Plan was held on 14 September 2017. A total of 92% of the voters on the day said ‘Yes’ to the Neighbourhood Plan.

The Whitchurch Neighbourhood Development Plan 2014-2029 was ‘made’ at Full Council on 26 October 2017.

The adopted Neighbourhood Plan is now used to guide planning decisions in Whitchurch.

Whitchurch Neighbourhood Plan Update 2021

At the current time, Whitchurch Town Council have set up a review group to work alongside the Town Council Development Committee to review the Whitchurch Neighbourhood Plan.

Whitchurch Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) (2019)

A Conservation Area Appraisal has been produced for each of the borough’s conservation areas, and adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance.

This appraisal identifies, describes and illustrates features and characteristics of the historic settlement which justify its designation as a conservation area.

The Whitchurch Design Statement (2004)

The Whitchurch Design Statement has been produced to illustrate the distinctive character of town and parish, as seen by residents, and to provide a set of guidelines that will help to preserve this character for future generations.

The Design Statement was adopted by the Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council as supplementary planning guidance for the parish on July 22, 2004.

The North Wessex Downs AONB Management Plan (2019-2024)

The North Wessex Downs AONB Management Plan is intended to guide the relevant activities of local authorities as well as Government agencies, businesses, communities and individuals in the North Wessex Downs. The Plan presents objectives and policies that partners can apply to help conserve and enhance this nationally important landscape. The document has been split into chapters for ease of reference and downloading.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Local Plan

On 26 May 2016, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council adopted the Local Plan 2011-2029.

The adopted Local Plan forms part of the statutory development plan for the borough. It sets out the council’s vision and strategy for the area until 2029 and will provide the basis for decisions on planning applications.
